By Karien Jones, Guest Author

"Well, when it comes to desserts, cakes are surely on the top of the list. You can bake a cake with all the colors that you want. You can use a cake mix, a little food coloring and frosting, and you will have a red, white, and blue cake ready within minutes for your celebrations."

If you want to make your celebrations even more special, then you can add the magical touch of red, white, and blue shades to your food, and especially the desserts. With some simple and easy to use tips, you can prepare delicious and beautiful red, white, and blue desserts. You can add the fun feel to the desserts apart from your outfits and decorations, and this will enhance your celebrations as well. So here is a list of tips that can give your desserts a red, white, and blue makeover for the special occasion.

Bake a cake

Well, when it comes to desserts, cakes are surely on the top of the list. You can bake a cake with all the colors that you want. You can use a cake mix, a little food coloring and frosting, and you will have a red, white, and blue cake ready within minutes for your celebrations. Just make the batter with the cake mix and then add red food color with a cup of batter, and in another bowl add blue coloring with another cup of batter. Now start with the red batter and put it first in a greased pan, and then pour the white batter and finally the blue batter. Pour the batter carefully, and then bake it for about thirty minutes. You can do the same thing with the frosting, and drizzle it on the cake and your cake is ready.

Enjoy colorful cupcakes

Cupcake is another treat for the special occasion, as you can easily make red, white, and blue cupcakes, with different frosting and decorations of the same color theme. You can also decorate cupcakes with red stripes cut from licorice laces, and stars with blue butter cream. You can simply take up your recipe of vanilla cupcake, and then add one-fourth of diced strawberries and one-fourth cup of blueberries into the batter. Remember not to over mix your batter, because then it can turn purple. The cupcakes will also become more delicious with the twist of fresh fruits.

Try the simple trifle

Even if you have planned to spend a day at your friend's place, then you can surprise your friend by taking white, red, and blue desserts along with you. Even if you have less time, you can easily prepare simple trifle with whipped topping, vanilla pudding, as well as crushed vanilla cookies. You can add red and blue berries, such as raspberries and blueberries. All you need to do is to layer the ingredients into the trifle dish, and then just serve it fresh.

Add some fun with themed cake pops

Adults and kids love cake pops equally, so you can also make red, white, and blue cake pops. You can simply start with crumbling red cake and add frosting to mix it well. Make small balls with the cake mix and then dip the balls into melted candy. After coating them well, you can then dip the balls into red, white, and blue colored sprinkles. When they are ready and entirely dry, you can decorate the cake pops with decorative icing and make cute and nice designs to give a different touch to the balls.

With these easy steps, you can now easily bake and make tasty as well as colorful desserts to make the special day even sweeter.
